Joe The Plumber

Joe The Plumber

Last night's Presidential Debate was interesting to say the least. And your probably wondering, like the rest of us. Who is "Joe The Plumber?" He must be someone important right? His name was mentioned 23 times during the debate.

Joe T. Plumber A.K.A.: Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, from Toledo, Ohio. Joe owes $1,182.98 in back taxes and has a tax lien filed against him that to this day, is still in effect. But things may get worse for him yet. Joe (Samuel J. Wurzelbacher) wants to invest in a small business, a plumbing business. But this business has an expected income of $250,000-$280,000 per year, the American dream right? Well it depends on who you ask, McCain, an Arizona Republican senator, pointed to the exchange during the debate last night when he turned to the camera and said, ``I will not stand for a tax increase on small- business income.'' Directly criticizing Obama, he added, ``what you want to do to `Joe the plumber' and millions more like him is have their taxes increased and not be able to realize the American dream of owning their own business.''

`American Dream'

``Do you believe in the American dream?'' Wurzelbacher asked before asking about the tax increase. ``I'm being taxed more and more for fulfilling the American dream.''

Tell me, what do you think? Let's turn this into a Discussion Board: Feel free to comment below!

The point thats being overlooked here is that, regardless of who this guy really is, he asked a question based on the situation that many Americans are in today. And the answer by Barack Hussein Obama was very clear. The top tier of income earning Americans already pay 70 percent of the taxes the government racks in. To please the masses that are hurting from the economy now, he promises to keep the taxes high on the high earners and cut taxes for the 'average American' while creating more social programs for them. Another simple point that is being overlooked here. What happens when taxes are raised on the wealthy and corporations? It is obvious that many negatives will come of it. For one, the global economy welcomes companies to leave the US and relocate their businesses else where, tremendously saving them money...all they need is a little push like higher taxes. Second, the companies that decide to stay must raise prices in order to cover the higher taxes. In BOTH cases, Americans are losing thousands of jobs. What does Obama have to say about that? If only Americans were informed and have a basic understanding of economics. To answer the question if we should be taxed higher for earning more, the answer is no. It is imperative that we steer clear of income redistribution. I do believe that people that cannot make it should be helped, limited government help and charities are welcome. But this country was founded on hard work, you go out there and bust your ass to better yourself, and you shouldnt have to be penalized for it. There are people out there working full time, with kids, that are taking night courses to better themselves...and the liberals come in and say once that person reaches their goal they should be penalized? Doesnt make any sense to me. Please educate yourselves before taking part in Obamunism.

Should we be taxed more for earning more money? Is it our duty to pay more when we are more successful? Or Should others work harder to achieve more success? What do YOU have to say?
